February 14, 2021. Let your yes be yes and your no be no.

How simple it is to "let your yes be yes, and your no be no. " This verse is found in James 5:12b.

I think God wants us to say what we mean and mean what we say. It's simple, no? We complicate out lives and our speech. Why can't we just say what we mean? Why can't we ask for what we want? Why do we have a hard time connecting and communicating?

Simple. Gentle. Clear. Concise. Honest. Reliable.

I appreciate the people in my life who are kind, honest and straightforward. I don't have to guess or read between the lines. When they give me information or answers, I know what they are saying is true. I hope they know that I am the same way.

We build trust with others when we keep our word, when we are honest and transparent in our dealings with others. I believe that's how God is with us. When He wants us to know something, He makes it clear and available in His written book to us, the Bible. He speaks to our hearts and minds and our conscience. Lord, please help me to be honest, clear, open, inviting, reliable and concise with others. Let my yes be yes and my no be no. Let me be more like you, Jesus. Amen.
